Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo near my home in rural northeast Missouri. It is a low water crossing called Bear Creek. I like to go adventuring and find places that are passed by in everday life.Time
This photo was taken on an August afternoon last summer. It was mid afternoon. My sister and I had made an entire afternoon out of it with our eight kids.Lighting
The lighting is all natural. The sunlight was filtering down through the canopy of trees in such a magical way. It seemed like every ounce of sunlight was beaming down on that spot.Equipment
I used my well loved Sony A230, on camera flash, and my 4-5.6/ 55-200mm lens.Inspiration
I love photographing my daughter. She is very natural in front of the camera. It is something that we can do to spend time together. We went to take pictures of her standing in the water, but when we got there the light was to beautiful in that spot to pass up. So we continued our adventure down the muddy banks and found a way across to the location.Editing
I trimmed the frame, but other than that it is straight out of the camera. In my camera bag
My well loved Sony A230, and four lenses. 4 - 5.6/ 55-200 ; 1.8/50 ; 3.5 -5.6/ 18-55 ; and my 2.8/30 MacroFeedback
Look past the weeds and rubble of everyday life for the location you will have in the frame. The other surroundings are not important if the place you are framing is spectacular. I like to leave people guessing where the photo was taken. I am a self taught photographer, and I am still learning everyday. To know if something or some place works you have to try it out!
