Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Seattle, Washington in an alley outside of Neighbors nightclub.

Time

This was taken in the afternoon as the sunlight was diminishing from the sun setting. The model didn't know what to do, so I said just fan out the fabric and let's see what we get.

Lighting

No fancy lighting. It was outside natural light. I just ensure to leave out shadows.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon Rebel EOS T5i with a Canon EF 18-200mm lens

Inspiration

This was taken for a fashion show to showcase the local designers work. I wanted to show the fabric colrs as much as possible and this is what we came up with as we played with the cape.

Editing

Very little post processing

In my camera bag

I always make sure to have my Canon Rebel EOS T7i and when I want even more awesomeness in my photos, I being my Canon EOS 6D. I like to pack my versatile lens that is an 18-200mm lens. I then choose other appropriate lenses depending on what I am shooting. Lately, I bring along my DJI Osmo pocket camera to capture video as I am shooting stills. Lastly, the most importan thing I pack is lots of extra batteries that are charged and ready to go. You don't want to be caught halfway thru a shoot and run out of battery.

Feedback

Don't be afraid to experiment with different poses. To capture something similar, you've got to get a model and some colorful fabric or a cape and find a good outdoor spot with even lighting.
