The Monte Palace Hotel is a former five star luxury complex in the island of São Miguel, Azores. It's located near the Sete Cidades village, with stunning views over the Sete Cidade Lagoon, which is one of Portugal's Seven Wonders.
This hotel has been abandoned for 25 years, becoming one of the most curious and spectacular abandoned places in Portugal.
Last week, we decided to enter the building when we were on our way to visit the lagoon, and it was remarkable. The clarity of the fog comming down from the roof, combined with the reflection of all the hotel's deterioration on the water was simply stunning. The building has kind of its own soul, making us all feel like the place is clearly haunted.
