Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at Leiston Abbey in Suffolk, UK a few years ago. I had just taken my son to view a potential high school and on the journey home we passed this impressive landmark. It was late afternoon and the light was dimming, but as we walked round the abbey ruins, I felt it was a calm and tranquil place. This particular shot was taken after wondering around the abbey for a while. I just thought the arches were too beautiful not to capture on camera.

Time

It was approximately 4pm in the afternoon when I took this photo.

Lighting

I just wanted to capture the beauty of the ruins - the rough walls and uneven ground. I had my camera on an automatic setting for this shot.

Equipment

Only a camera was used for this photo,

Inspiration

I was inspired by this amazing historical ruin.

Editing

No

In my camera bag

I usually have one of my cameras with me - either my Canon or my Samsung.

Feedback

Just look around your surroundings and be inspired. Look for unusual or natural 'frames' eg: arches. Taking photographs forces the photographer to think outside the box and to appreciate what is around him or her.
