I love photographing my sweet cat Suki. He is another one of my rescue cats and posing for me nearly every time. If you have ever photographed a cat you know how hard it is to get them to sit still. He is my super star.

I took this photo of my cat Suki in my backyard. I am a self taught armature photographer. Suki is a perfect subject.Time
I took this shot while laying on my stomach on the ground. I didn't use a tripod so I propped myself up on my elbows right in front os Suki's face.Lighting
Suki had amazing coloring to his eyes. They were much more than just copper. You can see that around the edges of his eyes the color is deeper and there is a rippling darker line all the way around his eye. It makes his eyes very dramatic and expresses his personality.Equipment
I shot this on my very first digital camera. A Fuji S 3100. I had it on the macro setting so I could capture Suki's face.Inspiration
Since I rescue abused cats I wanted to show people what caring and loving a stray looks like. Suki was a perfect model. I wanted people to look into hus eyes and see what I see. Contentment and complete peace with a dash of curiosity.Editing
I know photos are often 'touched up'. But since I don't really know much about photoshop or anything like that this shot is pure and simple. In my camera bag
I really don't carry much with me. If I am going to do a shoot I have a tripod and extra batteries. A good clean cloth to make sure the lens is spotless. Pretty basic.Feedback
If I were to give advice to anyone it would be to shoot what you love. Try to capture the passion you feel in your heart in your photo. Take a LOT of shots of one subject. This way you are better able to capture that 'perfect' image. Keep your camera with you. You never know when an opportunity will present itself. Last, when shooting animals be patient. Animals are always unpredictable so follow the lead of the animal. In the case of cats, it's a lot like trying to get a 2yr old toddler to sit still. Don't give up because if you keep working on it you will capture that perfect shot that makes your heart sing.
