This photo was taken in Reykjavík, Iceland around Haedagardur (not sure if the spelling is correct) Street. When it's not the northern lights creating a show in the sky, it's a beautiful sunset.Time
I don't quite remember at what time the sun was setting in Iceland at the time but this was around late August.Lighting
I didn't have to plan anything, just run outside to capture what beautiful things the light was already doing! I was so eager not to miss it that I didn't bother with shoes and ran out in my socks.Equipment

I was just cooking in the house I was staying at via AirBnB when another AirBnB guest told me to come loot at the sunset. Of course I knew I had to take a picture.Editing
I tried to work with the shadows and contrast to make all elements that were not in the sky completely black to really make the colors in the sky pop out. Then I perked them up a bit too because I just feel like the classical shot often makes colors less vibrant than I actually remember them being.In my camera bag
I'd love to expand my array of equipment and get a darkening filter and a new lens with a better zoom, but all I have at the moment is my iPhone 4S and the Sony A100.Feedback
Just keep your eye out and your camera handy. You never know, that spectacular sunset might just happen tonight and you should be ready. Having something in the shot to make it look cool geometrically and let the eye travel through it is a plus.
