This photo was taken in Iceland on the road from Seljalandsfoss to Thorsmork. To take this road you need a 4x4 vehicle and be prepared to drive through some rivers! There are many smaller waterfalls coming off of the Eyjafjatllajokull mountains, and they are all beautiful. Each one has a different way to access it but the ones where you have to hike to them are the best. To see some, you have to traverse rocks and streams and sometimes you have to climb using chains. With this one you have to hike for maybe twenty minutes into a little canyon but when you get there you can even go behind it.Time
This photo was taken on August 2nd. When it's high summer season in Iceland than a vibrant green is the predominant color of the landscape. The photo was taken shortly after lunchtime.Lighting
It was actually slightly drizzling but the greyish sky added to the wetness of the scene which was very palpable in the air from the rain and from the mist from the waterfall as well as in the saturated moss.Equipment
Sony A100. I had no tripod so I climbed on top of a rock covered with soft moss to get a good angle.Inspiration
Everything you see in Iceland makes you gape in awe and wonder at how beautiful everything is, and my friend was doing precisely that at this waterfall. The waterfalls are particularly majestic and each one is different and has its own unique beauty. Even smaller waterfalls have carved incredible canyons and formations in the rock each one is worth admiring. This is what I wanted to try to capture.Editing
All I have with me in Iceland is my tablet because my large laptop old laptop is a drag to lug around. I only made the color pop a bit using the Adobe Photoshop Express app and I enhanced the clarity slightly as well.In my camera bag
I am a photography beginner and so far I only have my DSLR camera which is a hand-me-down and my attempts at steady hands. I would love to eventually obtain a better camera capable of handling high ISO for nighttime pictures as well as a good macro lens and a darkening filter for those milky waterfalls. My first goal is to obtain a tripod.Feedback
Live in the moment and soak it in. Feel the power of nature around you and the picture will emanate what you feel.
