This was around 6 years ago now but I do remember the day being overcast so perfect weather for photographing animals.Lighting
Overcast days are so good for zoo photography and this cub was in a good spot with enough light.Equipment
Canon 5DmkII and a Canon 100-400mm IS lens. Handheld and no flash.Inspiration
The announcement of tiger cubs was more than enough to get me going. This was the 2nd time cubs were born when I was doing photography. The first time I had only just started photography so didn't really get any good photos. This time around I was determined to get some great photos. I spent quite a bit of time and this is the result of my patience.Editing
I only do minimal post processing to my photos. Mainly lighting, colour balance and a bit of sharpening. I like to keep my photos looking natural. In my camera bag
Usually just my camera, 100-400mm and 70-105mm lenses, a spare battery and spare cards.Feedback
When doing zoo photography you need to have patience. Sometimes it can be worth waiting a while for a good photo. Also learning an animals routine. So big cats for example are active in the mornings but like to nap in the afternoons so best to get tehre early. Also like I have mentioned before, overcast days are great for this kind of photography.
