Location
This is a photograph i was able to take at home, since it was the newborn of one of my feline roommates=) normally i have a hard time shooting inside due to the low light in my house, but here the kitten sat in front of a window, staring outside as if it was waiting for me to take my cam and get in position.Time
it was midday and normally indoors the main problem is the background. And since cats are usually sleeping in the weirdest places the foreground may please the eye, but most of the time the rest gives you a hard time when you don´t want to completely settle over to black and white.Lighting
Often times i have a flashlight hitting on the ceiling or bouncing off the walls. which leads to a similar light in every picture, quite boring. So I was really happy that the window situation made up for such an ideal light.Equipment
Handheld Canon 650D with a 50mm 1.8 lens. The loud shutter forces me to get the shot on first try, because most of the time my fluffy fellows are quite irritated when they hear the mirror fall.Inspiration
The serious look of an old wise cat in the eyes of a few weeks old. I would give a lot to find out what the kitten thought about in that moment. And every time i see that picture it has something calming and makes me stop for a moment.Editing
little sharpening, not more.In my camera bag
For animals i use my 18-135 and a 50mm 1.8. Sometimes I take an off camera flash with me, but most of the time i shoot ambient light.Feedback
I like to look the cats in the eyes. To get them on their eyelevel is key for me to get them in an equal position which gets me closer to see what they are really about, and it makes for an interesting image because its not the usual way we see them even if it means for me to rob through the mud (which was obviously not the case for this shot, but many others) only to get them from behind when they once again play their games with me.
