Location
The photo was taken in my living room next to the west facing window. At the time I was learning all I could about light and decided to play around a little with my beautiful sister.Time
This is one of first images where I started trying to get a little artsy with just simple window light. I was after a soft light and since the window was facing west I knew I want to shoot more middle of the day. This photo was taken August 24th, 2015 at 12:17pm.Lighting
I wanted to add a little drama to this image so I had my sister angle her face to where the light only hit one side of her. I snapped a couple pictures, wasn't 100% happy so I had her move her head just a little more into the light.Equipment
This picture was shot with a Nikon D3100 and a 18-55mm lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
Learning and bettering myself with light is what inspired me to get this picture. I had a vision and worked it until I get what I wanted.Editing
There was not a lot of post-processing that I needed to do. I simply upped the contrast and turned up the shadows to give it a more of a dramatic look.In my camera bag
I'm a simple girl and the less I have to carry the better. On an average shoot I will only have two cameras and two lenses. I carry the Nikon D3200 with my Nikkor 35mm 1.8 and the Nikon D3400 with my Sigma 105mm 2.8.Feedback
Look for soft window light. Think middle of the day where the light is even coming through any window. Clear out anything in the background so all you have to worry about is getting your model in just the right angle to the window.
