Behind The Lens

Location

Mediterranean Swallowtail Butterfly on a Lantana Plant in my garden here in Crete Greece. Single spot metering on top flower head, which blurred background detail giving an interesting result. I waited patiently for almost 2 hours, taking numerous shots - this being the best! It was taken as part of the monthly challenge of my local 'Photographic Group' -Subject being 'Colours' - which by the way I won!

Time

Taken just after mid-day at 12.38 .

Lighting

Taken on 30th July just as the sun was high & bright - no artificial lighting involved.As I was standing in the shade of my fig-tree there was no interference of any other light source directly on the camera.

Canon EOS 7D EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens Manfrotto, Befree Tripod

Inspiration

It was taken as part of the monthly challenge of my local 'Photographic Group' -Subject being 'Colours' - which by the way I won! I was inspired by the diversity of Nature's Colours in my own garden.

Editing

Only a simple crop.

Depending on what the project is I take My 2 Canon Cameras 550D & 7D mk1 choice of Canon lenses 50ml Prime lens, EF100-400, 28-105 zoom, 10-22 Ultra wide-angle. Manfotto Before travel tripod.
