Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the Arsenal Technical High School campus in Indianapolis, Indiana, the high school in which I graduated from.

Time

The photo shoot took place closer to evening time, around 4:30 p.m. as to get that golden hour lighting! This created a great look for all of the pictures that I took as to not have too much light but the perfect amount for the look I was going for.

Lighting

The lighting here was shaded from the setting sun creating shadows in the perfect place to add the grungy look I was aiming for, combined with the lower angle catching all of the shadows possible.

Equipment

I used a Sony Nex alpha with the macro lens to get the exact shot that I wanted.

Inspiration

I've always liked the pictures I've seen where the focus was off of the subject but you could still tell who the subject is, featuring a detailed element.

Editing

The post processing on this photo was in Adobe Lightroom, where I focused on bringing out the grungy details while keeping warmer undertones.

In my camera bag

I normally carry a sun filter, a macro lens, lens cleaner, memory cards, and plenty of batteries, as well as my camera of course.

Feedback

Get a subject piece and have something smaller with larger amounts of detail to focus on with the subject not far off in the distance.
