Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

Time

This photo was taken on August 23, 2015 at 10:08 a.m.

Lighting

The day was chilly and overcast.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III with a Canon 600mm EF lens.

Inspiration

I love taking pictures of animals and this was my first time through Rocky Mountain National Park, so I was trying to take lots of different pictures. This group was taking it easy all morning. We had passed them around maybe eight in the morning and they were just taking it easy the whole time. I was wishing there would be some kind of action shot.

Editing

I adjusted the contrast and exposure just a little bit. I also gave the image a vignette.

In my camera bag

I always carry my Canon EOS 5D Mark III. The type of lenses I carry with me depend on what I am going to go after that morning, my bag is always changing. There are days I am doing macro shots and I only take my macro gear - Cannon 100mm lens, canon macro lens mp-e 65mm, along with my macro twin lite MT-24EX. On a day where I am going after animals, I usually have my Canon zoom lens EF 100-400mm and my Canon EF 600mm lens.

Feedback

I guess the only advice I could give is wait for the animals to do their thing, we are completely on their time and to always be patient.
