Location
This photo was taken on Plymouth Hoe at the Firework Championship back in 2015Time
I remember getting to the Hoe early with my dad so we could get a good spot and pre focus before it got dark. This image was taken at around 9pm.Lighting
To be honest the only special thing with the ligthting was waiting for the correct set of fireworks over the boats in the water to create the silhouettes.Equipment
The equipment used for this shot was my manfrotto befree tripod and my old sony nex 5 with my 18-55mm kit lens.Inspiration
My inspiration for this shot was my dad as he has taken some cracking firework shots and my second is the fireworks in general i love the colours and the smell of fireworks.Editing
I didn't do much post processing i only brought the contrast up a little bit and brought the highlights down a bit in the water to bring out the silhouettes of the boats. In my camera bag
In my kit bag at the moment is a sony a6000 with my 18-55mm I have a couple of hoya filters with two film cameras which are a zenit eleven and a praktica MTL3.Feedback
My advice to any one taking photos of fireworks over water is to get there early and find the best spot to compose and focus your shot. I also recommend taking a couple of test shots of the fireworks to work out the best exposure. Then just wait for the fireworks to do there magic and enjoy the fireworks and have fun!
