Location
i took this photo in my back yard. it was a very foggy newfoundland morning. there were other webs covered in dew but this one stood out the most.Time
i took this around 8 am the fog generally lifts or burns off by 9 am. there was no wind and it was warm, it was just a lovely morning.Lighting
the lighting is all natural light from the east. the sun had risen about 1/2 hour earlier and had an eerie glow because of the fog....perfect diffuser.Equipment
i used my old canon 60d with an 18-70 mm lens. i didn't use a tripod or flash, i just hand held the camera.Inspiration
my inspiration came from the wonderment of nature with it's small creatures and the weather. the way the web was spun and the way it held the heavy dew drops without collapsing was wonderful.Editing
the only post i did was color correcting/balancing and cropping. that's all.In my camera bag
normally i carry my canon 5d mk ii with a canon 60d as a back up. i use an assortment of lens that relates to where and what i'm going to photograph dictates what lens i carry. favorites lens are canon 100-400 mm L, canon 70 - 200 L, tokina 11-16 mm, 90 and 55 mm nikkor macros. i carry various filters from a b+w nd 10 and a cp filter, a uv and others. i also carry various cleaners, a blower, microfiber clothes, rain protectors, extra batteries, monopod and tripod. it gets heavy if hiking but worth it.Feedback
advice i could give on taking these types of photos....watch what the weather will be, the time of day for the light effect you want, the light source, either natural or flash and direction. finally the lens because it's all about the light and the lens. i love camera gear and if i could afford more, i definitely would even though i have too much. the camera and the lens are the tools, you are the one to control them. there's no set rules, just guidelines. if what you see pleases or inspires your eye, then take the photo. take more if you can then look for the next one because it could be "the one". good luck
