Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken just south of Whistler, British Columbia. It's the bottom of Brandywine falls.

Time

The time of day was about 3 pm.

Lighting

I was lucky to have been there late enough that the valley was shading the Waterfall, so there wasn't any spots too bright or too dark.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon 5Dmarkiii, and 70-200mm f2.8L II, no tripod.

Inspiration

A lot of friends had hiked down to the bottom of Brandywine falls this year and the pics from their cell phones were amazing, so I made it a priority this summer to check it out.

Editing

Minor adjustments in Adobe light room only. I always shoot Raw, and neutral/flat.

In my camera bag

Always have my canon 5Dmarkiii with me! The lenses very depending on the length of the hike, but usually I'll have at the least, my canon 16-35mm f2.8L, 70-200mm f2.8L, 24-105mm f4L, and the Canon nifty 50.

Feedback

If you want something bad enough, chase it. No matter where your inspiration comes from, if it motivates you to get out and shoot, you're guaranteed to be somebody else's inspiration too. So get up and shoot, and keep the cycle of photos alive!
