Location
This Photo was taken at Elephant falls, a famous waterfall in Shillong, the capital of the state of Meghalaya in India.Time
It was monsoon time in India, July 2012. This image was shot in the late afternoon, around 3pm.Lighting
The natural lighting created a great ambiance. Using a tripod enabled me to use a lower ISO setting and longer shutter speed. The clouds also naturally diffused the direct sunlight.Equipment
This was Shot with a Canon 1000D, using 18-55mm f/3.5 kit lens on a tripod.Inspiration
Seeing the waterfall on the first instant made me thing how this would like on slower shutter speed. The amount and the water flowing off this fall and natural cascading of the water made me experiment with the shutter speed.Editing
Nothing too much. Just some level adjustment. In my camera bag
I started off with a Canon 1000D, and 18-55 kit lens with a polarizer. I have upgraded to a Canon 60D few years back. 18-135mm kit lens, a 70-300mm zoom and 40mm prime. A shutter release button, polarizer filters and a bunch of memory cards.Feedback
The best shots come with lighting and angle. You do not have any control over the lighting other than going to shoot at different times. as per the angle, the shot might have come differently if i could have got a little bit below so as to emphasize the sheer size of the falls. but every time there are some bounding and you have to try your best in the given condition.
