This photo was taken while I was in the rainforests of Costa Rica. I saw this little guy sitting on a stalk of grass in a somewhat clear area.Time
The lighting was perfect in the late afternoon, as the sun was not too bright, and these Red Eyed Tree Frogs don't normally like the midday light.Lighting
Because of the somewhat cleared area, there were not too many shadows.Equipment
I used a Nikon P500 bridge camera, which I love, due to it's zoom capabilities. I was about 15 feet away from this little (about 1" tall) when taking the photo. Didn't want to get any closer so as not to scare him away.Inspiration
It's hard to believe that creatures this beautiful exist. Capturing them in photos is such a privilege.Editing
The only post processing was a slight but of cropping and just a bit of increased color intensity in Lightroom. Not much was needed, due to the already intense coloring of this frog.In my camera bag
When I travel, I normally carry two bridge cameras(1 for backup), a Nikon B700 and a Nikon P900, extra batteries and chargers. I don't normally have time to switch lenses when photographing wildlife, so the bridge cameras with good zoom lenses are my choice. Also, this reduces the weight I have to carry while traveling, especially if I am on a small plane which limits luggage weight.Feedback
The weather in Costa Rica can be unpredictable, so rain can be a factor. But, if trying to photograph these Tree Frogs, it's good to remember that they are primarily found later in the day, or at night (which requires a flash).
