A few years ago we were spending some time on St. Simmons Island off the coast of Georgia. We were staying in a condo that had a pretty secluded back yard. One day I stepped out back to see if there was a good area for staging a shot for a quilt I had just finished. I was shooting photos and didn't realize until I went back in and started reviewing the images there had been a lizard clinging to one of the palms. Had I know, the complex would have heard a blood curdling scream. Look closely and you'll see him in the center towards the bottom. The palms had wonderful texture and shape. The palmetto palm is on South Carolina's state flag and state seal.
