Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this at a river near where I live. For those not familiar with Swedish geography, this is the West Valley River, in the region of Dalarna. The town is called Malung.

Time

This is late in the evening, only an hour or so before sunset. The light had not gone into golden hour yet, so it was still a pretty strong sunlight in the sky.

Lighting

I just loved how the boat and the tree were reflecting so perfectly in the still water flowing by. It took me a little while to see how it worked light-wise, but it was easy to see once I got it.

Equipment

I shot this with a Canon 700D, handheld with no flash. I don't recall which lens I had on, but maybe a 50-250mm

Inspiration

Nothing at all really, I just saw the reflection and wanted it in one frame. Not 100% perfect but it turned out really well

Editing

Only some light light-tweaking

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon 700D, and now a Canon EOS RP, some lenses, a flash, a tripod with my bag

Feedback

If you see a boat by the shore or riverside, try to get to the other shoreline and look for reflections in the water. It works in still water, but also in slightly windy conditions too.
