The photo was taken in my photo studio in Nicosia.Time
It was around 20.00 o clock. I wanted to get the background to be as dark and black as possible.Lighting
You will need a proper setup to photograph smoke. This form of photography is done indoors. There is no right or wrong way to photograph a smoke trail. The best thing is to grab your camera and experiment. Experimenting will give you that perfect picture, that perfect angle and that perfect lighting. Your purpose is to under-expose the background and light up the smoke.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D 7000 with an 50mm f/1.8. Also one flash with circular tube was involved and a tripod.Inspiration
I was looking to bring smoking photography to a next level. A lot of time, a lot of shooting and a lot of experiments produced this result.Editing
I made a post-processing. My personal satisfaction comes from taking the image into Photoshop and re-interpreting it in a way that makes it feel more like a painting. I was using multiple levels and photographs. In my camera bag
The first thing I always pack is my Nikon 50 mm f/1.8 prime. The second one is the Sigma 105 mm f/2.8 prime and the Sigma 24 mm f/1.4 prime. Also the Nikon 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 is a good solution for making it possible to shoot most subjects with just one lens. Every lens have it purpose.Feedback
No pain no gain!!! My main advice is not to be afraid to experiment different techniques. Experimenting will allow you to obtain that perfect angle, that perfect lighting and finally the perfect picture.
