Location
The photo was taken in my studio in Nicosia.Time
It was a summer beautiful night at around 21 o'clock.Lighting
I believe that the most important thing to consider as a photographer is the quality of the light you will be shooting in. I wanted to promote a dramatic look but also a dynamic image. I used one flash from one side of the chess pawn. That means that technically i created a dark shadow to extended up to the wall.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D 7000 with an 105 mm f/1.8. Also one flash was involved.Inspiration
I was looking to give a dramatic look and also create a dynamic image. I am a chess lover, so i decided to experimental with the chess pieces.Editing
I made a post-processing. My personal satisfaction comes from taking the image into Photoshop and re-interpreting it in a way that makes it feel more like a painting. After I develop the raw file I changing the brightness/contrast, adding textures and background. Also one of the most effective part was to match a different horse shadow than the original. In my camera bag
The first thing I always pack is my Nikon 50 mm f/1.8 prime. The second one is the Sigma 105 mm f/2.8 prime and the Sigma 24 mm f/1.4 prime. Also the Nikon 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 is a good solution for making it possible to shoot most subjects with just one lens. Every lens have it purpose.Feedback
Limit is the sky. My main advice is not to be afraid to experiment different techniques. Experimenting will allow you to obtain that perfect angle, that perfect lighting and finally the perfect picture.
