I took this photo in the Butterfly House on a visit to Chester Zoo, it was a beautiful day and it was like walking through confetti with hundreds of beautiful butterflies fluttering by and one even landed on my head.Time
It was about 11:30am and the sun was in a clear blue sky so into the Butterfly House for some shade.Lighting
I had my camera set to full auto and took a few shots under a shaded glass roof.Equipment
My Samsung NX1100 fitted with a 20-50mm zoom lens, and with arms held as steady as a tripod I took several shots and this was my favourite.Inspiration
This day out was a treat for my 85 year old disabled mum who was in her wheelchair below the branch this butterfly landed on, mum loves butterflies and to see so many fluttering around her made it a special day, her favourites were the blue ones so when it landed above her I just had to take a photo.Editing
Just a little cropping on this one.In my camera bag
I always pack my bag with camera and three lenses, some polarizing filters, but the best equipment are my eyes to find the shots I want.Feedback
Often I find that the best shots are less staged and so always have my camera bag in the car, you never know when you see a fantastic cloud formation or a sunset, maybe the way a building that usually looks quite uninteresting is lit by the sun catches your eye. So my advice is always have your camera with you and don't forget a good smart phone camera can take some pretty good shots.
