Waterproof camera on tripod in level of the waterline. In order not to distract these fouraging swans, I quiet'n slowly pressed the button for the self timer to start with it's 10 sec's delay. Lucky me to have taken an exceptional pic from a frog's perspective.

Oh, by the way, the time was twilight and the weather dimm'n cloudy, that accentuates the moodiness.

Behind The Lens

Location

Surroundings are the coast of Øresund in Denmark (salt water).

Time

At the end of a summer’s day I was just chilling with part of my family at the coastline of the sea. The daylight was already getting a little bit dimmed. With the sky overclouded, contrast was low. And so the light source from water/sky.

Lighting

The calm weather with no wind blurred the transition between water/sky, and the twilight required use of a tripod.

Equipment

Shot with my waterproof p&s camera on a small tripod in the water just a few centimeters above waterlevel. Because the exposure time was aproxm. ½ sec., the water surface turned out blurred and make the horizonline difficult to see.

Inspiration

As always, I carried my waterproof p&s camera + tiny 10 cm flexible tripod with me. With mr and mrs Swan fouraging in the water, inspired me to try making a photo setup. Would I be able to place the tiny tripod with camera in the water with the lens just above waterline? And would I be able to press the shutter and backoff slowly within the 10 sec selftimer to make the couple without taking notice? Well sometimes You make a ‘lucky punch’ ;-)

Editing

I made the neutral blurred background slightly more blue toned to emphasize the minimalism in the composition.

In my camera bag

Except for the waterproof p&s camera, I normaly use my Sony a6000 with three lenses: a Sony 16-50 zoom, one Minolta 50 mm/1.7 and one Minolta 35-70 zoom with macro.

Feedback

Sometimes think like a movie director: which kind of sceneries can you imagine? And could you be an active part of making the scenery happen?
