Behind The Lens

Location

This is my husband's '56 Olds taken near my home.

Time

Late in the evening on a clear night when the light pollution was at a minimum.

Lighting

Using just a few seconds of light on the subject during a long exposure photograph will help your subject "pop" and bring out details.

Equipment

Was using my Nikon D3200 with a basic with a basic 18-55mm lens on a tripod. Lighting with a small flashlight.

Inspiration

Playing around with lighting to bring out the beautiful green of the paint job.

Editing

I used Lightroom to get rid of some of the light pollution in the background and slight cropping.

In my camera bag

Currently only own a Nikon D3200 with the kit lens of 18-55mm lens and a zoom 55-300mm lens.

Feedback

Shooting nighttime photography is fun one you figure out the settings for your location. Light pollution and what lens you are using are the main two factors. Once you have that down, play with lighting (a small flashlight or even the light from your cell phone). The creative possibilities are endless!
