Behind The Lens

Location

Near Molt, Montana

Time

Sunset

Lighting

when I first stumbled upon this scene it was quite cloudy. The clouds broke way just as the sun was falling below the horizon.

Equipment

Canon 7D, ef 17-40mm f/4l usm, no flash, generic Tripod

Inspiration

Hmm that's a question that I believe could be answered simply or more complexly. I'll keep it more simple by saying that I have always been intrigued by reflections especially of the sky and the sort of other worldly look you could find.

Editing

I combined multiple exposure to gain more dynamic range in the foreground and the mid tones. I also warmed the temperature.

In my camera bag

I usually have 3 lenses. One wide angle, one prime with a low aperture and one mid focal length to 130 or so mm.

Feedback

Patience in waiting for the right time. Sometimes it is best to take a photo that is good of a location and wait for the time to capture a great photo of that same location. Also, continuing to push your self in learning all you can about your craft and your subjects. Understand the emotion that is such a vital part of photography and the power that post processing can have when used correctly.
