My children hadn't seen the ocean in years, and wanted to collect sea shells. The sun was beginning to set and was reflecting off of the wet sand so beautifully. I couldn't resist snapping this shot.

Location
My kids hadn't been to the ocean in a lot of years, so when we arrived they grabbed their buckets and headed out immediately while I trailed along behind them. The sun was setting and the reflection of the sunset on the water caught my attention and I quickly snapped a picture so I could treasure this moment forever.Time
This photo was captured in the late evening during the middle of summer. The sun was setting over the Pacific Ocean and was painting a vivid picture..Lighting
As an amateur photographer, I still have an incredible amount to learn, but I let instinct and inspiration guide me. I was fascinated by the beautiful colors from the setting sun. The rapidly diminishing sunlight left my children in shadow, which draws the viewer's attention to the mystery of the moment.Equipment
This picture was taken using a Nikon Coolpix p520.Inspiration
I believe that magic is found in the day to day moments in our lives. For my children, seeing the ocean for the first time in a long time was a long-awaited event that was anticipated with great excitement. Capturing a moment like this is important to me, because even though time marches on, I can keep coming back to the magic of the moment and enjoy it over and over again.Editing
I added a little saturation and enhanced the shadows some. I wanted to draw out the color of the sunset a little more, and darken my children's attire, so that the focus would be more on the moment and not what they were wearing that particular day.In my camera bag
I can usually be found with my camera hanging around my neck and sometimes I have a tripod in hand as well. I don't carry a bag of equipment, because that is the only equipment I own.Feedback
I don't like posed pictures. I believe in the magic of the moment. Take 400 pictures and you might come up with one out of the bunch that you like, but that one picture may be your diamond. Don't prepare pictures ahead of time - just capture life as it is.
