Location
Camp Kiwanis, Danielsville, GA owned & operated by Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta. I was fortunate to work for the camp and they provided my wife and I with a residence. Loving wildflowers we decided to plant several species which the deer dearly loved. It didn’t matter what we sprayed the flowers with they loved the taste. But with persistence and vigilance we had several flowers bloom and with luck the columbine that I had planted in a planned spot for this picture made it to fruition.Time
5:26:44 pm. Got off work at 5:00 pm and rushed home (5 minutes from the office) to set up for the shot. The sun began to sink in the sky and it lined up with the Columbine and lightly illuminated it. Wow, it is beautiful when things work out.Lighting
Golden hour - the sun was at my back and it just spot lighted the columbine. The lens was parallel to the flower and the F/5.6 gave me enough sharpness and blurred the background.Equipment
Nikon D200 with a Nikon 300 mm lens with Nikon TC-20E II Teleconverter mounted on a a Wimberly tripod head (Gimbal-Type) on a Gitzo GT3540xls tripod.Inspiration
I’m a visual learner and enjoy learning & getting new ideas from talented people who share their knowledge on You-Tube. I don’t remember the gentlemen’s name in the video I was watching but he made the statement not to be afraid to use other lens to get similar results or unique results. So I experimented using a 300mm lens with a teleconverter (600mm) instead of my 200mm macro lens. I was happy with the results.Editing
In Lightroom, I did minimum of adjustment. I try to get as much as possible correct in camera, in order, not to spent a lot of time processing.In my camera bag
