Location
This photo was taken in my back yard, and this little guy (an Australian Blue Winged Kookaburra), chose to pose on the branch of a dead tree. Kookaburras can become quite tame if you feed them and this particular one returns daily for his little 'treat'. Have you heard the sound of a Kookaburra's call? When a few of them get together, it just sounds like people laughing! They tend to do this at 4 o'clock in the morning and the sound of their 'laughter' is deafening....no need for an alarm clock!Time
The photo was taken just before 9 o'clock in the morning on a lovely clear, warm day at the beginning of summer in sub-tropical Queensland, Australia.Lighting
The lighting that day was perfect; it was early morning so the sun wasn't too bright and the bird landed on the best branch of the tree which enabled me to get a good shot of him.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon EOS 400D, 18-55mm lens, ISO-100, no flash and without a tripod.Inspiration
I had just learned about bokeh photography - how to get a blurred background so the subject stands out, so was eager to try my hand at it; a few shots later, I got this one and was quite pleased with the result.Editing
No post-processing involved in this photo. In my camera bag

Definitely use a tripod! I didn't have one handy at the time I took this photo, so had to rely on a steady hand (not always easy, especially when zooming in on the subject), therefore this photo is not as sharp and clear as it could have been.
