I was walking at Watu Ulo, Probolinggo, East Java, Indonesia to find a good spot to catch some sunrise shot. Once the sun emerged, however, monkeys and langurs began to ran around the compound, climbing trees and exposing their backs to the warmth of the sun. I was chasing some of them from underneath as they jumped from tree to tree, trying to capture a shot with unique framing when I arrived at this moment of unforgettable intimacy. Was the langur curious, or was it scared? Was it looking at me, or was it looking at the eye of my 70-300mm lens that was pointed at him? I could never know, and shortly after the langur jumped out of sight into a cluster of trees that gleamed in the morning light. And for the questions, to me they are better left unanswered, for the beauty of mystery lies in its ability to engage us, in this case, in a profoundly personal and emotional level.
