0855 on the 14th July on what was a dewey morningLighting
Because I was in and out of shadow and there was a likelihood of the targets moving I had put the ISO up to 800Equipment
Hand held on a Canon EOS 70D with a Sigma 105 mm Macro lens at f2.8 & 1/800 Sec.Inspiration
I had been practising with the relatively new lens and had been fascinated with the detail in some other shots i had taken. at this time of the morning the Crane fly was quite docile so I was able to get in close.Editing

The above with a canon 70 - 300 zoom + the 18 - 55mmFeedback
Patients; the need to be aware of your surroundings and then take it slow. Watch for movement & then close in down wind & sun so your shadow does not spook the target. Take a shot early so at least you have something but then close in at the ready. Make sure you have a fast enough shutter speed & continuous shooting mode.
