Behind The Lens

Location

This clematis photo was taken in my garden on a very sunny late September afternoon, which is Spring in New Zealand.

Time

3.37pm

Lighting

I prefer to photograph flowers and plants in shady conditions to avoid too many shadows, but sometimes a full sun shot such as this one gives an extra glow.

Equipment

Shot with my Canon 450D using Macro lens EF-S 60mm

Inspiration

The sheer beauty of a trellis full of clematis blossoms is a sight to enjoy but this time I wanted to get closer and show the detail of a single bloom.

Editing

I have several editing programs my favoutite being Corel Paint Shop Pro X - an old version but one I am most familiar with. I did a slight crop of this image and sharpened the centre a little bit.

In my camera bag

I am a very amateur photographer. I usually carry my Macro lens, while my EFS 17-85mm is most used. I occassionally use a 74-300mm zoom lens. Also in my bag is my trusty little Panasonic Lumix TZ60, my favourite camera. I do own a tripod but seldom use it.

Feedback

Some think flowers are an easy subject, but to capture their beauty to do them justice takes time and effort, and for me, many many clicks.
