This photo was taken at the Houston Zoo.Time
I go early in the morning when the zoo opens up. The animals are usually a little more active and not as many people.Lighting

This was shot with a Nikon 7100D 18-300 zoom lens no flash or tripod Camera was set at f 5.6 ISO 400Inspiration
Sometimes it pays just to watch the animals for a while. I see so many people just run up and take a shot. I was watching the Giraffe's when I saw an older one kind of kick the baby out of his way. Then I saw mom come over to her baby as to check on her baby and say everything is okay. As they were nose to nose I started shooting. I came out with some great shots just by being patient.Editing
no all I did was add my signature on to the shot.In my camera bag
A spare camera and lens and a flash and extra batteriesFeedback
When shooting at the zoo watch the animals I go several times a year sometime I may only get to 2 or 3 kinds of animals and then other days I may see them all. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds and better light before the sun cast to harsh of lighting. The more you watch the animals and see how the interact with the other animals or even the crowds the better chance for you to catch a great shot. Sometime zooming in as far as you can go is good. I do not think this shot would have the same impact if I pulled back and got more of the animals.
