Venus and Jupiter appeared within one degree of each other, making them the brightest objects in the night sky after the sun and moon.

Though Jupiter is ten times the size of Venus, Venus appears brighter because it is much closer to Earth and reflects a lot of sunlight off its cloudy atmosphere.
