Location
This photo was taken at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham North Carolina. They have a butterfly house there and the birds are less timid. I saw two birds resting on this branch and more in the area so I waited almost an hour to capture this shot.Time
This shot was taken mid-day indoors.Lighting
Since the lighting in the butterfly house is not that great. I went mid-day to use as much natural light as possible. I couldn't have asked for a better result.Equipment
Nikon body with a 150-300mm lens hand held.Inspiration
The curved branch was interesting and with only a few birds on it the shot was there. Waiting for three more to land was the icing on the cake.Editing
Just converted it from RAW to a JPEG.In my camera bag
I carry a wide angle lens, my 150-300 as well as 30 and 50mm primes, everywhere I go.Feedback
Find something you think is interesting. Then think about what would add to the interest of the subject. Sometimes its light. Sometimes its adding another subject. Don't settle for just OK. Be patient and get the great shot. Come back at different times of the day. Do your homework on the subject. It will pay off.
