Behind The Lens

Location

This place is a little outside the city, Udaipur (India) and can be a playground for those who love mountain biking and photography and i love both. There's an endless series of ascents and descents unexplored in that area often covered by shallow water, which makes riding there even more fun.

Time

I usually go to shoot early mornings and that day too we went just after dawn. But i shot this image in late morning time.

Lighting

As i wanted to show an underwater perspective, i needed more light. I like to use natural light in my photographs so i waited till the Sun was high enough in the sky so that enough light can fall on the water body.

Equipment

I have a Nikon D5100 with the basic 18-55mm lens. i used an underwater housing- DiCAPac WP-S5 for this shot.

Inspiration

I am an amateur and self taught photographer. I like to shoot adventure sports and I wanted to capture an image gives a unique perspective or a unique angle.

Editing

Yes i used Photoshop cc but to a very little extent. Underwater images can lack a lot of clarity and the water wasn't very clear so i increased the clarity and exposure a bit. After some colour correction, i used smart sharpen to further enhance it.

In my camera bag

I have a Nikon D5100 & 18-55 mm lens. Sometimes i carry underwater housing if i plan underwater shoot or if its supposed to rain. and lots of chocolates :-)

Feedback

I don't think i am there yet to give any advice but if someone want to attempt a similar shot then make sure you have a nice underwater housing and check if it's 100% waterproof. and also make sure you plan your shoot on a bright sunny day because more light means more perfectly the underwater surroundings are exposed or are visible.(Mine isn't very clear i know, the water wasn't very clear).
