Location
Hi ! This composite image started with a visit to Glastonbury Abbey Ruin. On the site they have a large monks kitchen. The building is a considerable size, in each corner is a large open fire with roasting spits and meat hooks. Above is a huge chimney . I stood as central as i could, ( the fire is now a colored glass display) and took my shot.Time
It was about midday, i remember the kitchen was pleasantly cool. Deep stone walls and high narrow windows kept the summer's heat out.Lighting
With this shot i did not use a flash. I took several lit shots but they bleached the detail out of the stone. There was enough natural light.Equipment
This was shot with a Fuji EXR 20 bridge camera.Inspiration
I was inspired by the unusual view. As if i was trapped at the bottom of a well.Editing
The feathers and the sky were added in post edit. I also darkened the underneath of the feathers. The gradual dark vignette gives the well depth. In my camera bag
I carry a Cannon DSLR and two lenses with a light tripod.Feedback
If you see anything that takes your imagination no matter how quirky and unusual, Shoot it ! I guarantee you will use it, at some point. Get yourself some photo editing software There is a huge amount of downloadable tools that can make editing so much fun, some give you free trials so you can try before you buy.
