This photo was taken in Old Town in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I’m from NM, and I like this photo because I think it characterizes Albuquerque’s old, gritty quality with the life and beauty it also holds.Time
This was taken in the late afternoon. I didn’t feel like going home after work, so I thought I’d wander around downtown Abq.Lighting
The light in NM is awesome. Since it’s dry and usually cloudless, the light comes in bright with a lot of warmth. As the day starts to end, the light becomes more orange and pink, surrounding the town with a lucid coziness.Equipment
Just my old Canon. I like to keep it simple.Inspiration
I liked how the new leaves bordered old ones, adding contrast to that, the buried newsletter, and the bent fencing behind it.Editing
Nope. One of my favorite photographers is Henri Cartier-Bresson, and I always try to follow his advice to perfect the photo in the viewfinder. In my camera bag
Just my camera. Albuquerque has some sketchy areas, so I feel better when I pack light.Feedback
I like geometry and contrast (in color, light, concept). That’s what I’m usually drawn to when I feel the need to take a snap.
