Magical! What kind of light did you use to light up the spot? Wish I was there!

Location
This photo was taken on my 4 day backpacking trip through the Grand Canyon on the Havasupai Indian Reservation.Time
This is one of my favorite images I have shot. Right after dinner when everyone was crawling into their tents I strapped up my headlight and took off for some night exploring. I luckily got this image right before the moon came up!Lighting
Setting up this scene was very hard with the lighting. I needed to allow the sky to over expose while not blowing out the waterfall from my light. With some trial and error I finally let the camera open for 10 secs then turn on my head lamp for the last 20 secs and this was the result!Equipment
This was shot off my Canon T3i, with my 10 - 18 mm lens on a tripod set for 30 secs.Inspiration
I have always been fascinated with night/light painting photography. It is amazing the different beauty you can find at night as well. Taking one during the day in the same position and pose made me wonder if I could capture it at night too with the stars.Editing
With night photography there is usually a lot of grain depending on how much ISO you have to use. In this photo I did a lot of removing unnecessary grain and making the colors pop and show in real life.In my camera bag
For this shoot I packed light and just had my T3i, 18 - 55mm len, 10 - 18mm lens, 55 - 150mm lens and a mini tripod. I am self taught and believe a lot has to do with your vision and doing what you need to make it happen!Feedback
I would really take the time and do it right. Night shooting can be frustrating and time consuming. You need to have patience and make your vision come to life. Do not go over 30 secs of exposure if you want the stars to stay sharp and not streak.
