Excellent capture. The city lights and the bridge colors are a beautiful mixture.

Location
This photo was taken in Melbourne Victoria, I was standing in the middle of the Queens street bridge looking down the Yarra River which flows through the cityTime
It was around 7:00 at night, it was one of those photos that you see and just think to yourself "Yeah, that'd look good"Lighting
What I love about this picture is the lighting of both the bridge seen in the photo, but also the lights from the surrounding buildings. The water reflects the lights perfectly as the bridge is replicated in the waters reflection.Equipment
I used my trusty Canon 600D camera body, an Inca tripod and the Canon 18-55mm Kit lens. some basic equipment to capture a vibrant photoInspiration
On this night i was exploring the streets of Melbourne with a really good friend of mine as we hadn't seen each other is a while. we were walking across the bridge and were taking photos of things we liked the look of in the dark. Once I saw the small foot bridge going across the river, I thought to myself and imagined what the photo would look like, I could visualize how the lighting would reflect on the water, so it was a matter of composing the frame correctly and taking the shotEditing
Yes I did do some post processing, they were only small but I increased the contrast and brightness to bring out the lights, I also adjusted colours to make the lights in the water and on the bridge stand out moreIn my camera bag
My bag normally houses my Canon 600D, my favourite lens, being the Samyang 85mm f/1.4, my LCD viewfinder VF-4, I also carry with me some old vintage manual focus lenses like the Sigma 28mm mini wide II f/2.8, a Pentax-M 50mm f/2. I also carry with me the Canon 18-55mm kit lens and the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6. The bag also houses adapter rings for the vintage lenses and a few other things like insect repellent. My 600D is also attached to a battery grip which is always handy to haveFeedback
If you want to capture something like this then I would recommend a sturdy tripod because you'll have to use a shutter speed longer than 1/60th of a second, something in the area of around 5-10 seconds should give you some good lighting and colour. Make sure the camera is pre-focused on the subject. because the photo is taken at night I would use a lens with a high aperture, anything around the f/1.4 to f/4 should work great, the larger the f-stop number the longer the camera needs to be opened. If you want clear and still water, make sure the location has no water traffic and that the weather is calm with no wind to disturb the water
