This spot isn't too far from my neighborhood, Radison Heights is on a hill overlooking the city of Calgary. The first few times I photographed this area I didn't really get what I envisioned but, practice makes perfect and I really like this one.

Location
This photo was taken on a hill overlooking Calgary, Alberta CanadaTime
This was taken in the evening, the golden hour, just as the sun was setting.Lighting
I like the way the sun shone off the building. This was a long exposure to catch the sun set and details of the city.Equipment
I used a Canon 7D, 24-70 Wide Angle Lens, and a tripod.Inspiration
I've tried to take this shot several times, and on different days, before I got something I liked. I like the cityscape against the sunset.Editing
I use photoshop to process most of my images. In my camera bag
Usually, I am hiking when I shoot, so I keep it light. I will take a tripod and decide beforehand which lens I want to work with that day. I have a camera fanny pack which will store anything else I need ie polfilter, neutral density filter, lens cleaner, small screwdriverFeedback
Pick your spot, and if at first you don't have what you envisioned, come back again and again, until you are happy with your image.
