Location
This was taken in Haast, New Zealand. My partner and I were touring the south island and had to have a stop on the way up to Franz Joseph Glacier. Where we stopped there was very little to do so we went for a wonder and stumbled across this amazing beach.Time
By the time we had finished trying to walk across the driftwood field in flip flops and the swearing had stopped after stubbing my toes for the umpteenth time, we finally got to the beach around 4 o'clock in the afternoon on a beautifully windy day.Lighting
This was taken with the natural light at the time on the beach.Equipment
This shot was taken using a Nikon D90, with a 18-105mm lens and standard filter kit.Inspiration
After trekking and discovering the beach by a stroke of luck I was inspired by the glorious surroundings, with a view like that how could you not want to take a picture? With the strong winds thundering in and the tide crashing in, my panicking girlfriend helped to motivate the picture taking process by loudly mentioning that she was not getting stuck on the beach if the tide came in. (She had gone by the time I turned round, every man for themselves!)Editing
The only post processing that I used on this picture was to enhance the colours slightly in Photoshop Elements. In my camera bag
I normally carry my D90 (as its the only camera I own), and try and pack Nikkor 18-105mm, 70-300mm, 10-24mm and a nifty fifty lens. I also load up my cheap as chips filter system(soon to be upgraded) and my beany hat. However on most ventures out I always discover that I have forgotten at least one of the above list so it is quite fluid, not by choice!Feedback
The only advise I can give is to keep taking pictures and to keep exploring what is round the corner, without that we would have never found this beach, so explore as much as you can.
