Red-Shouldered Hawk. Buteo lineatus.
Adult; Recognoiced as a buteo by the ample tail and broad wings; as this species by the heavy dark nands across both sides of the tail. Adults have rufous shoulthers (not away visible from below) and pale robin-red underparts. In flight, note also translucent or “Window” at the base of thhe primaries. Immature: Streaked; can be recogniced by proportions, tailbanding and, in flight overhead, by the wing “windows”.
Habitab: Woodlands, wooded rivers, timbered swamps.
