Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken near our home south of Tucson, AZ.

Time

I am an early morning photographer and this was shot shortly after sunrise on that day.

Lighting

I love early morning lighting - so pure and wonderful. This was shot in the shade but with plenty of great light all around.

Equipment

This image was shot a few years ago and it was with a Sony point and shoot H50 - tripod of course! That camera is long gone as are a few others as I went to more advanced cameras and techniques. I now shoot primarily with a Nikon D610 with three lenses but also have point and shoot cameras for hiking, etc.

Inspiration

I love cactus flowers and shoot a lot of pictures of them.

Editing

My motto is "Shoot the shot the others did not!" And, as my website says, I will enhance but not create. I try to leave the image as close to what I saw but make minor adjustments.

In my camera bag

I have my Nikon D610 with three lenses -- 18-55, 55-200 and 70-300mm. And always have a tripod along. I also carry a Nikon and a Canon good point and shoot cameras for general picture taking and for hiking, etc.

Feedback

If you see a bunch of people standing someplace taking a picture - look elsewhere for a better or unique angle, lighting, etc. And, always check behind you - you might be missing a better image.
