An English summer meadow last June. I wanted to create a dreamy pastel effect so I blended a texture by taking a long exposure of a grow bag of all things. For the texture, I had to make used manual focus and made sure it was blurred. Using a long exposure allowed me to move around which helped to remove any text on the grow bag.

Location
This image of an English meadow was taken in at the Cotswold Lavender Farm.Time
I was with some friends from our camera club on an outing I had suggested to capture some iconic shots of the lavender. We arrived around 10 am, had a quick coffee and set out towards the lavender. By about 11:15, a couple of us moved wondered off towards the meadow and I shot this image around 11:30.Lighting
It was a lovely summer's day and I decided to shoot into the sun from a low angle focusing on a single poppy.Equipment
Although a had my tripod with me, I took this shot hand held with no flash or reflector.Inspiration
I was inspired by Mandy Disher's work and was aiming for a dreamy effect.Editing
I did do a fair amount of post processing in Photoshop to get my desired effect. Fist, I wanted to create my own texture and felt blues and yellows would work. As luck would have it I had recently bought a growbag which had a suitable image and decided to use that. So, I switched to manual mode and made sure I was totally out of focus with a slow shutter speed and moved the camera around whilst taking several shots of the growbag. I picked the shot I liked best and duplicated several times, got my image and duplicated that several time too then merged the newly created texture with the flowers over and over each time using a mask and revealing different parts of the original image to get the effect you see here.In my camera bag
Along with my Canon 650D, I normally have a couple of ND filters to hand and often have my tripod over my shoulder. I always carry a spare battery and memory cards too.Feedback
When trying this technique, do several shots and get as little of the sky as possible to achieve a dreamy look use a wide aperture and focus on a close individual flower to throw the background flowers out of focus.
