If there is something I like my photos to do more than just demonstrate how beautiful the world is and inspiring people to travel, it is to make people think, react, and to inspire change. That’s why I got pretty stoked when I got contacted by a non-profit organization in Washington DC a while ago. Turned out to be nothing less than the World Resource Institute, a global environmental organization going nuts about my photos and wanting to get the permission to use one of them for a large set of new data that maps global forest loss. Wow. I wrote my thesis on the same subject and thus got invited to share my report on their website as well, with the potential to reach millions.
Moments like those, that make you realize you’re on the right track, make me so happy.
The photo was snapped almost a year ago while improvising my way north towards Jasper, Alberta, and was among the most mesmerizing scenes I’ve ever witnessed.
