Location
This photo is taken at Sólaheimasandur South Iceland.Time
This is taken in mid winter on freezing cold day in Iceland around 18:00 hours, me and my brother where on a road trip to east of the country to visit our Parents and on the drive back to our home we passed this location, it is a bit out of the way and i had been there before but my brother had not, so we decided to check it out, however there was heavy snowing and we almost did not take the turn down to the wreckage but how glad I am that we did. When we arrived it was still snowing...and we decided to hang for awhile and then it cleared up and the sun broke through.. I jumped out of the car with no jacket or any kind of weather protection I was so pumped to take the photo.. with the camera already mounted on my tripod and with eventing ready the execution and composition of the image did not take more then 5 min by then my fingers and ears where about to freeze stiff.Lighting
The lighting in Iceland this time of year can be unique, low angle of the sun in the sky often creates amazing lighting effects and colors.Equipment
Canon 800D, Canon 10-22mm lens, B&W full stop filter and tripod.Inspiration
When I was a kid there where this image of this plane on a vinyl album by famous song writer in Iceland... I always wanted to visit the place and having been there once you like to go there again and again.. magical place indeed.Editing
Yes however very mild post processing in Photoshop, boosted up saturation and bighted shadows and mild increase of contrast. In my camera bag
Today I have Canon 6D with Canon 16-35mm and Samyang 14mm lenses.Feedback
Well... this is a tricky one since the weather in Iceland is very unpredicted you could try to replicate this situation in wintertime and you would need alot of time driving around to get the same condition for example. However to capture similar winter seen I would recommend staying in Iceland in either Jan Feb or Mars since outside that period you would not have the same light as in this picture.
