I took this photo whilst on holiday in Copenhagen.whilst in the city I visited Copenhagen zoo and for the first time ever I saw a tiger relaxing in the water. What made the shot even more special was the fact that the water was covered with a green pond weed which meant that the tiger left a trail as it swam through the water.Time
The shot was taken in the early afternoon. The weather was veracity and so I didn’t have to worry too much about the position of the sun and any harsh shadows that might have created. Simply found the best vantage point to get the shot.Lighting
The shot was taken outdoors in natural light and i had no choice but to take the shot at the time the tiger was swimming in the water. I set the camera to the most appropriate setting and fired away. Luckily the lighting was reasonable enough to produce a good quality image.Equipment
The shot was taken whilst I was on holiday and so I did not have any heavy duty kit with me. I used a Panasonic TZ 27 compact camera to capture the image. This camera has a reasonable zoom capability and so I was able to fill the frame with the tiger and the water trail.Inspiration
I love animals and especially big cats. Whenever I visit a zoo I always head for the big cats.Mostly they are sleeping and lying around but on this occasion the tiger performed on cue for the camera.Editing
I always do some post processing as I believe that this is part of the process of producing quality images. I adjusted the light and contrast and also removed some twigs from the top of the water which were a distraction. In my camera bag
I normally have a Panasonic G7 with three different lenses together with a Nikon p600 superzoom. I am a big believer in the bridge camera because it is so adaptable and can effectively capture shots that would normally require a very large and expensive lens..Feedback
My advice to others would be to be patient and most importantly always, always have a camera with you.lots of shots you can plan for but with wildlife and animal photography the moments which matter can be rare and fleeting.
