This shot was taken at Fountains Abbey, Yorkshire in the UK. I somehow managed to find a moment where no tourists ventured in, apart from 2 who I hid behind a pillar when I composed the shot!Time

I was a very bright sunny day in June, so the whole abbey was bathed in summer sun with the light shining through the window at the far end of the cloisters.Equipment
I just the Canon 600D I owned back then and a Canon 18-135mm f3.6-5.6 lensInspiration
I love architecture and I love monochrome and this was a shot I looked at, with the repetitive arches and the light and shadows cast across the floor, knowing it was going to look great in monochrome if I could get a good composition.Editing
Yes I did, I used Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro II to convert it to monochrome, to bring out the detail and to make it more of a contrasty image to add to the atmosphere.In my camera bag
I now carry a Canon 6d with a 24-105mm, a Canon 70-200mm lens, a couple of Canon 50mm and 85mm prime lenses, Yongnuo yn-560 mkii flashes and Yongnuo triggers, but have just bought a Lowel GL-1 Power LED light that I used at a wedding for the first time a month ago. Great piece of kit.Feedback
Pick the time of day that suits the features you want to capture but also captures the effect they have on the local environment, like the windows lighting the floor, the shadows that are cast and the sun shining through to silhouette the cross. Think about how to use the light and see the shot as you think it may come out, not as you are seeing it with your eyes.
