This shot was taken at Bridestow Lavender Farm in the north of Tasmania, a group of photographers and I got an early start to road trip up while the lavender was in bloom.Time
We started droving the 3 hours up to the Lavender farm around 7 am the lavender blooms in December and is in full swing for around a week as they begin harvest. This is one of my earlier shots at around 10:30 as we wandered around the vast fields of purple lavender and bumble beesLighting
I attempted to capture the foreground colour as well as the background beauty of the hazy mountain. The time of day formed a purple haze that complimented the deep purple of the lavender perfectlyEquipment
This is when I was only really finding my photography feet, I was using my Nikon P7700 that I purchased to be contact for my future backpacking adventures. Was shooting hand held because I was still yet to purchase myself a tripod and handheld made for nicer angles and made it easy to just stroll through the rows of lavenderInspiration
It was a Last minute decision to join 3 of my photography friends on this trip, I had never been to the north of Tasmania before and the lavender field was in full bloom. My mother loves lavender, the smell, the products made with it and so I was shooting that day with her in mind and I saw this and thought 'she would love this view'Editing
I have edited and re-edited this photo multiple times as I learn more about Lightroom and the effects it can give but every time I seem to just change it enough to bring to life the colours that my amateur photography skills could not.In my camera bag
My bag is pretty scarce at the moment, I have my Nikon p7700 sitting lonely around my neck and my Manfrotto tripod tucked under my arm. I'm in the market for a canon 6D at the moment to add depth and variety to my shooting but until then, my Nikon p7700 is my babyFeedback
The lavender farm sits just outside Launceston in Tasmania's North East. Checking the Website for flowering times is a good idea and get out there early as parking spaces fill up and people get in your shot. If someone is looking to find the perfect shot my main suggestion would be don't be afraid to wander through the fields until you find the perfect background along with the most colourful row and then snap away until your heart is content
